My first smile
On camera, anyway :) She's only smiled a handful of times, so it's very exciting when she does!
She follows things with her eyes like a pro now, and turns her head toward noises that she hears. Because of her super alertness, it's gotten much harder to put her down for a nap. She still isn't sleeping 6 hours at night like I'd hoped -- we're still only getting 4 and the occasional 5.

Stop, Time!
I hate writing sappy stuff, but I am just so scared I'm going to forget how sweet Leslie's newborn kisses are. And how adorable she is when I give her Mylicon or gripe water -- she smacks her lips for at least 5 minutes afterwards. I did at least manage to film her getting a dosage of gripe water. My maternity leave is melting away and I can't stand it. But I know that I am very blessed that I only have to go back at four days a week instead of five.
She's been really watching her gym for about two days now. I can tell that she can see the lights at the top. A few weeks ago, she would stare in the mirror on her gym and her bouncy, but now she's watching everything on the gym!
She's also really starting to follow me with her eyes -- so cute.
Her rash or baby acne or perhaps combination of the two are still all over her face, which makes me sad :(

She watched the fan today!!!
So yesterday I noticed she was following the rattle with her eyes. We showed Daddy our new trick today, and afterwards I noticed something else had caught her attention -- the ceiling fan! I videoed the moment. Of course on the video it just looks like she's staring off into space, but we know what she was up to :)

Her new favorite sleep position
This is her favorite sleeping position. In fact, after 5 weeks of waking every three hours on the dot at night, she slept like this from 9 pm until 5 am when I WOKE her to eat! Jody said he didn't want to wake her so he just let her sleep. Now we're working on more practical strategies to get her to sleep in longer stretches. Cross your fingers for us!

Leslie's weight drama
Leslie weighed 8 pounds at birth and 7.6 when she left the hospital. The next Tuesday at her first doctor's visit, she weighted 7.6. The doctor was concerned, so we went back Friday, and she was 7.7. By the next Tuesday she was finally at 7.10. At her 3-week visit on July 1, she was a whopping 9 pounds!!
